Worcester Open Space Program

“300 by 300”

In 2021, the Worcester Board of Supervisors established a goal of preserving 300 acres of Open Space by 2033 - The Township’s 300th Anniversary

A voluntary Township Open Space Program was put in place to support this goal of preserving 300 acres.

Private donations to the Open Space Program will be matched up to $300,000 by the Township.

Worcester Open Space Referendum Update

In May 2022, 800+ residents petitioned the Supervisors asking them to authorize an Open Space Referendum Question to be put on the Ballot in the 2022 General Election.

If authorized by the Supervisors, and approved by voters, a dedicated Township Open Space Fund would be established to be used to preserve Open Space in Worcester, and expand the community’s trail & park network..

At the July 2022 Supervisors Meeting, Chair Rick DeLello motioned for a Board of Supervisors vote to authorize an Open Space Referendum, but did not get a necessary Second on the motion from either Vice-Chair Lou Betz, or Member Steve Quigley. As a result, no vote to authorize a Worcester Open Space Referendum could take place.
